Story

Dottie Hart's, timeless taste, tenacious spirit, and courage to create the life she wanted ignited the vision for this lifestyle brand.

our founder

Markey Hutchinson

Markey Hutchinson has always been drawn to the beauty of clever details and design- how the right dress, a well-set table, or a thoughtfully designed room can make everyday life feel a little more special.

Much of that appreciation comes from her grandmother, Dottie, whose sense of style and warmth shaped the way she sees the world. Dottie's ability to exude style and charm was apparent whether she was outfitted to play golf in South Florida, hosting a brunch for ladies at her country club, or dressed for dinner with friends in the Bahamas. She believed effortless elegance didn't need to be reserved for special occasions; it could live in the small moments of daily life.

Growing up, Markey was endlessly inspired by the way Dottie lived- her personality and style were cohesive- it was feminine, polished, and joyful- full of color.  This brand is her way of carrying that spirit forward.

Dottie Hart is Markey's second lifestyle brand and business venture.  In 2012, she founded The Beaufort Bonnet Company to provide new mothers with a source for classic, refined, and timeless pieces.

"I want Dottie Hart to be more than an apparel label. I envision Dottie Hart as a lifestyle brand- one where women can obtain a little piece of the good life.  And to reflect and embody the friendly nature of Dottie herself, I want this platform to also support and highlight other artists, designers, and entrepreneurs."

the inspiration

Dottie Hart

Dottie Hart serves as a reminder to embrace the good life. After countless Caribbean cruises, trips to the Bahamas, and adventures in Acapulco, she and her husband settled in the sunshine state and called South Florida home. It was the perfect home base for all of their Olde Palm travels.

Whether she was betting on the horses at Hialeah Park or shopping for straw bags in the Bahamas, selecting the perfect floral wallpaper or creating a cheerful tablescape for the Ladies League at her Country Club, Dottie was a tastemaker of her time... and always dressed as darling as her name.
